Idk about yall ... but I'm always on the lookout for more info on newer trucks, because one day (when I get the money) I plan on buying a nice tow rig/dd. I saw these videos & was VERY impressed. Keep in mind that I don't have any brand preference other than Jeeps (and I strongly prefer American automakers).

Click on the link, then click on "Get Started" under the torture test side of the screen. Start with dyno test & go thru the videos from left to right. Words fail me ... other than ... WOW! :icon_eek:

If Ford ever brought back a smaller Bronco with removable top to compete with the jeep and put that motor in it we would have a real winner. Especially if it was straight axle.

That would be sweet! They resurrected the old Mustang, so why not do the same for the EB? Reclaim their off road roots. Ya know, the last 2 editions of Wranglers have more resemblance of the original Ford GP than they do the original Willys MB ;)

sorry.. i just couldnt watch it all. I drive a Duramax Chevy. Never driven anything (street legal) with the torque it has. Friend of mine drives a Ford Diesel. Last trip over the mountain ... both of us pulling campers .... I pulled away big time & slowed to let em catch up... then pulled away from him again. I know the trucks in video are gas. But I love my Duramax:icon_smile:

As far as diesels go, I'm partial to the Duramax & Allison combo too. I like Cummins motors, but I also don't trust Dodge auto transmissions - had way too many bad experiences with em. And I've been leary of Powerstrokes ever since their best one, the 7.3, was retired and its replacement had lots of issues.

Two facts make me lean toward a gas engine: One, God only knows why diesel costs more per gallon than gas. It SHOULD be the other way around, as diesel is a byproduct of producing gasoline. This detracts from any mileage gains. Two, today's EPA friendly diesels won't last long running homemade bio-fuel. That's an important selling point about a diesel; in a economic pinch being able to make your own fuel. People can poke fun at the weak old GM 6.2 boat anchor all they want, but it has proven to run reliably on virtually any type of oil - which was Rudolph Diesel's original goal when he created the diesel engine.

Traditionally, diesels get better fuel mileage than gassers. But new motors like this EcoBoost are a game-changer. ;)

The new Ford diesel is looking like a real winner also. I have a friend that is a Master diesel tech, and he said that he as not seen very many come back for major work. They have allot of power and torque.

I'm blown away by this....regardless of previous experiences of "this truck left this other truck in the dust"....it looks like I just saw a v6 beat up a hemi and a duramax.

It's a new engine with new technology that seems to be dominating everything in the field...and gets great gas mileage too. I've gotta give props to Ford...they seem to have finally upped their game to meet or beat everyone in the field.

For this kind of marketing, you want to ensure that your product always looks like it's doing the best, so you'd "stack" the tests to favor your product. I wonder if things would've been different if they had increased the grade on some of those pulls. I'm not sure if things would've been different though...that torque curve was incredible.

Regardless, I'm still impressed. If I were in the market for a truck, I'd definitely give a lot of consideration to these F-150s.

Cool vids for sure! But comparing a desiel to gas isn't far. My FIL has the last of the 7.3L and I've told him many times I'd trade him even for my 06 Chevy 2500 gas.

I don't even want to think about buying a new truck although I'd love to have that F150 or a new 250.

But the price of them are rediculous. My FIL's F250 is an XLT Lariat...fully loaded 7.3L. I think he paid somewhere around $35,000 for the truck new. I think the sticker on it read something like $42,000. He was at the dealer the other day looking around and the same truck was stickered at $60,000.

THANKS JUST CRAZY!!!!

I agree, except the Chevy had a 5.3 gas engine. To be more fair, they should've used a Chevy with a 6.0 ... but the way that F150 was pulling, I bet it still would've won.

If I were a truck, I'd be pretty upset to see a motor barely half my size kick my butt! :icon_lol:
