So a guy calls me right before lunch and says hey what are you driving today? Turns out he's got his 2WD truck stuck off the edge of a gravel road not too far from work. It was lunch time anyway so I tell him no problem, I'll just run home during lunch and get the Jeep. Long story short he really is stuck pretty good. I end up making a pretzel out of my rear d-shaft and wouldn't you know it I don't have my tool box with me, first time ever. So i call my buddy George and guess what, he actually drove the Crusier today so he comes out a saves the day by pulling my buddy out of his stuck and loaing me tools so I can remove the two half's of the d-shaft and drive home on the front end. Then on the way home I get 1/2 mile from my house and the Jeep dies on me and wont start back. So I'm able to cost to my driveway and have to use the Durango to pull the wounded Heep on up into the yard.
What a day. I know it's something simple like d-cap or maybe the d-shaft got some wires to the fuel pump so I'll have the fixed this afternoon I'm sure. But sometimes you just want to throw in the towl you know?
Somebody come and lay $5K on me today and I'll probably take it and say good by to the Jeep. It's still a good old ride, just old enough that the little bugs are starting to show up and it's starting to wear me down a bit. I never drive the thing anymore anyway.

Just curious how did you pretzle the rear DS? From where your traction bar etc was broken and it just turned up or down with the torque?

I'm sure that was a contributing factor but it twisted the tubing about 2 full revolutions. My welds held just fine, all the damage is in the tube. I wasn't being rough on it at all since I don't have any anti-wrap. I don't think I ever got over 2000 rpm so I think the shaft must have been damaged prior to today. It's had a weird feel too it the past couple of times I've driven it so i think this may have been it.

I took some pics but having trouble getting them to upload to the Grace library.
Tried starting the Heep when I got home and still nothing so I pulled the air cleaner off and checked for fuel. I had fuel in the carb so I tried it again and she started right up. Could have been another vapor lock, or still could have been ignition as well so she'll be getting a full tune-up and some fuel system work to head off any future problems from either ignition or fuel. Also checked my d-shaft suply and I do have enough stuff to build another shaft.
Anybody got a fuel cell laying around in your way

I just got my email newsletter thing from Max Lucado, seems to flow with this:
Gratitude for Ungrateful Days
by Max Lucado
?Always be joyful. Pray continually, and give thanks whatever happens. That is what God wants for you in Christ Jesus?
(I Thessalonians 5:16-18 NCV).
Look at the totality of those terms. Always be joyful. Pray continually. Give thanks whatever happens. Learn a lesson from Sidney Connell. When her brand-new bicycle was stolen, she called her dad with the bad news. He expected his daughter to be upset. But Sidney wasn?t crying. She was honored. ?Dad,? she boasted, ?out of all the bikes they could have taken, they took mine.?
Make gratitude your default emotion, and you?ll find yourself giving thanks for the problems of life. Need spice in your day? Thank God for every problem that comes down the pike. Is any situation so dire that gratitude is eliminated? Some of the ladies at the Women of Faith Conference thought it was. This great organization fills arenas with women, and women with hope. The president, Mary Graham, told me about one particular weekend in which a shortage of space tested everyone?s patience.
The floor had 150 fewer seats than needed. The arena staff tried to solve the problem by using narrow chairs. As a result, every woman had a place to sit, but everyone was crowded. Complaints contaminated like feedlot fragrance. Mary asked Joni Eareckson Tada, a speaker for the evening, if she could calm the crowd. Joni was perfectly qualified to do so. A childhood diving accident has left her wheelchair-bound. The attendants rolled her onto the platform, and Joni addressed the unhappy crowd. ?I understand some of you don?t like the chair in which you are sitting. Neither do I. But I have about a thousand handicapped friends who would gladly trade places with you in an instant.?
The grumbling ceased.
Yours can too.
Impossible, you say? How do you know? How do you know until you give every day a chance?
