I picked up our old video truck from Eastman; I've driven this truck since '96 and know that it has been service regularly.
Because it's an '90 they wouldn't let us keep it even though it only has 24K miles on it.
It has captain's seats, power locks and windows, large belly stowage box, hydraulic leveling system, a nice foldout couch and cabinets.
Plans are to fix up the interior to camp in and still have cargo area for the big tent and some tools (maybe generator and welder).
I will have to go with a tag-a-long trailer (talking to Bill already) but I think it should pull the Cruiser ok.

I like the loading ramp too when i saw the back picture. I thought it would be funny and cool to put a little motor on it so it extends and retracts with the push of a button...

I've heard good things about that shop on Stone Drive across from the old Wal-Mart. I think it's called A-1 Hitch. That's who does most of our stuff at work.

Yea, I've done a couple. I just don't have time to do it between now and the SSC in Harlan, I still have a bunch to do for the M&G and need to finish my rear bumper for the Cruiser.

Yes, and I also added a 2X2 square tube through the receiver to the rear cross member.

George, you may want to look and see if it has the towing package. Some of them have a plug to just plug in the pig tail and hook the brake controller up. Then the same for the rear of the truck. I have had three trucks with this option and it makes hooking up a breeze.

Would that be John from NCKrawlers. I know he did this other times. I'm actually researching the power options now. I know a turbo can be put tot that.

I've been thinking of starting slow. Putting my xj in the back and towing a travel trailer. Then eventually convert the uhaul to a toterhome and get a 34' trialer to tow 2 rigs. Just pricing now. I won't start on my wifes rig for 2 years so that is the time line. I'm just gettin sick of sleeping on the ground and alot more of the places we are going are primitive camping only and my wife wants a shower, etc. The trucks are all over for $3500. do the power stuff first and buy a cheap older travel trailer. Who knows what will really happen. I"ll most likely change my mind a bunch between now and then. My real criteria are sleeping for 5 and tow 2 rigs. Not many other options other than a toterhome. I cna't afford most of them so that leaves me with building my own.

That junker tow rig looks like crap!!

haha looks good George! of course im a little late on this thread. but anyways its definitely nice! Of course, i had to see it at the SoutherShine crawl.

As for the brake control. I think someone mentioned it. But I have had several installed at the Uhaul place on stone drive. Across from the old Walmart! great guys. Dusty who works there is a good friend of mine.He knows what he is doing!

Brake controllers are easy to install. Just do it yourself. I did mine in 1 hour (including zip ties holding the wire). I bought the controller and a wiring kit for brake controllers. That made it easy.

yes they are easy to do. i was just letting George know where to get it done if he wanted! i didnt put mine in, because they guys who installed my gooseneck done it while they were doing the hitch. but that was when the truck was new.

Dare I even ask if you checked the mpg?

I just had to ask b/c people ask me all the time about the mpg on my motorhome and I just reply "why"? What's the difference between bad and really bad? It 's still not going to make me stay home, although long trips will be reduced in number.

At least you're brave enough to check-I'm too scared!

Partly b/c of what it will be and partly b/c it has an 80 gallon tank-so I have to fill it up when I leave and when I come back.

I'll never take it to Harlan, but I've got my hopes up for a 7.3 diesel Excursion-that's more like a fairy tale though b/c those things are like gold now.
