Just recently purchased an '87 Chevy 4x4 pickup with a 305 TBI motor. I discovered an oil leak somewhere on the rear of the engine that I have yet to find. It is leaking a fair amount out a small hole in the torque converter check plate. My guess is rear main seal....

Any other ideas? Could intake manifold, valve cover or oil pressure sending unit leak in this location as well?

I don't want to pull the tranny & tcase to replace a one piece rear main seal on the truck if I don't have to.

Thanks for the advice!

Well, climb back there over the top of the engine and take a look, I have seen the oil presure sending unit leak, But in most cases the oil presure gage will act speraticly, In other words it will jump around while the engine is runing,, To be ohnest Ive never seen a one peice rear main have a problem leaking, But I have seen the back of those intakes leak, All you can do is inspect it realy,, If you need some help finding it, send me a pm, Ill help you, Im in Kingsport as well
