so all things considered, it was a good weekend. saw a lot of family, the funeral was great, and i learned some things about my grandfather. my grandfather was a very stoic man. i knew he knew lots of important people but the visitation and funeral were huge. the amount of support my grandmother had (and the FOOD) was overwhelming. the pastor who played h.s. football with him and eventually led him to the Lord presided and i learned he was at one time a deacon of his church which impressed me. he had military honors at the cemetery and i praise the soldiers who stood at attention and held their salute for a good 20 minutes in the wind and sleet while everyone else was huddling for warmth (they had no rain gear on and one of the color guard must have been sick because i think he was about to cry from trying not to cough, he just about fell out afterwards). the only down moment was when my uncle, who if you met him, you'd wonder why he's not on TBN asking for money. tried to remove my grandfathers masonic pin from his lapel saying it was devil worship and he would go to hell (his mind was changed quickly though). i'd do good to be half the christian and citizen he was. he was the last of 13 siblings and my dad went this morning to help hand dig his grave which he would have liked i think. that's a little scatterbrained, but i felt like sharing.

Thank you for sharing that. As a society, we often find it hard to express feelings and relate personal moments and love for family and one another. I believe our society would be so much better off if we could cherish the human walk in life more, as well as knowing the Lord and the coming eternal life.
Thanks again for sharing, and God bless, brother.

Thanks for sharing Jarret. It sounds like your grandfather was a great man. You just never seem to realize how much of an impact someone has on your life until they're gone.
