Jump on it dude. The cherokee is a much better built rig.

How much more does the guy want for his cherokee. I think you should trade, yes I agree the rover is a good offraod capable vehicle, but IMO is cost way to much to fix when the rover goes down. But it is whatever will make you happy.

Didn't you just get rid of a lifted XJ?

Yes, it seems to be a nicely built one - question is are you wanting something to drive everyday, or a trail-only rig? Your Rover currently is better for the DD stuff than the XJ.

Rob you nailed it.

I say no.

You had a Rover, Got rid of it for an XJ on 35's and it was too big so you sold it and got another rover. Why go back to an XJ? put a little lift on the rover and some 33's and be done. Just look at derricks rig. Very slick looking and does great on the trails. Not overbuilt but just about right.

If you want a huge trail rig just build one a keep the rover for a DD.

i believe thats a matter of opinion and not FACT

cherokees are a dime a dozen....you can go buy one for 500 bucks and wheel it along with your rover. obivous this guy wants your rover because hes a smart man and realize a disco even in stock form is a much better rig then what he has!!

Now THAT is another opinion! If they were both stock I'd agree, but such is not the case here.

thanks Wes....my rig fits my style of wheeling perfect. although ill probably never be able to follow your rubi on some trails....but its a good set up for me

i think you just need to go WHEELING some more and figure out what platform fits you.

G, keep the Rover. All good discussion above. Yes, you have a few things to address on the Rover, but nothing big really.

Wheel it more and find out just what niche of the "art of wheeling" you wish to play in. Don't rush it. You have a lifetime before you.

I look at it like this. You know what you are driving, both good and bad. You don't know what you are not being told about the other truck. I am not saying that the guy would intentionaly lie about his Jeep, but when people drive something they overlook certain things. Drive, wheel what you have. If something gets messed up, fix it.

For all you know what he has could be a lemon. You have a nice vehicle now. Not tomention if later on you do want to sell it, the resale value will be much higher. And as stated before if you want one, you buy one cheap, even one with a mild lift.

There are millions of cherokees around. You can find the same for about 2000 on 4x4 sites.

Stick with the rover.

I voted no because the Jeep looks like it is sitting low in the back.

Actually, unless this is mainly a trail rig you wouldn't be happy as a dd. The guy probably is wanting to trade for just that reason. He's built a nice trail rig, but it probably not that street friendly. Keep the rover and build a samurai to wheel that you can tow behind the landy.

I would have to agree with what everyone has said thus far. My question is how did they convert a toy 8" to 5 lug. as far as I know all toys are 6 lug. Now I may be wrong but I think as far as I know they are all 6 lug so whats up with that. Also the truck sits very low in the rear. The guy mentions it sways some. To him it may be little sway to someone who has never driven it they may think its extreme. He mentions that it needs a few things done to it. In my book id keep the rover and also like everyone else said before you went from a jeep set up similar to this to the rover you have now because the jeep was to big.

I have been curios of this the whole time.
I would ask for some pics of the rear.
Also just keep the rover.

There was a big build up on pirate on that Jeep a few years ago. Guys name was Arya something. Very well built jeep. The 8" has aftermarket axles. I would trade if it were me. Then again, I would probably trade a Rover for a box of rocks too, so my opinion really doesn't mean much.

If you want a DD keep the rover. If you want a trail rig trade. Don't worry about the rear sag. Some simple lift blocks or shackles would take care of that.

Well... I do LOVE MY ROVER... YES gas is VERY expensive since you have to buy high test. plus it doesn't get 10 mpg. But I think im gonna keep the rover. Its the inchitus hitting me again. Rovers are EXPENSIVE to lift! I just dont like saying i have 31's. I miss the 35's!! O well.... I dont have too much time to go offroading as it is. And this July I will be going to boot camp for the Marines, so I wont have much time for a "trail rig" I think im with my dd/trail rig!!

going into the service is a excellent opportunity to save money for the rover build  :smokin:
