Here is the bad frame rail I mentioned a while back. It was covered with gas tank skid plate and you could not tell how bad it was.

Intense frame rot. Looks like you are moving along though.

Waiting on the new waggy frame, ubolt eliminators for the front axle, and all new u-joints. Then after assembly I have to have exhuast put on it and a rear driveshaft cut.

I hope to have the waggy trail ready in a few months. I don't want to rush things and overlook anything. Once I get the new frame and body lift installed. I will be bringing the rolling chassis to my house so I have more time to work on it. Once everything is setup then it is back to dads for testing and final tuning.

Got the new frame  and will start stripping it this weekend. Worst part will be getting the drivetrain out. I guess I will pull the frame under a big tree and use a comealong and chain. Sorry no pics but it was raining a bit to hard to get out the camera.

Thank you to all the guys that helped load the frame Yesterday. Also thanks to Want2Wheel for hauling it.

I have seen the progress up close. There is alot of stuff to do, but everything is there. It will come together slowly but that is the best way to build a vehicle that you are going to depend on. It is going to be great to see it on the trail.

Well Me, Sam_pf, and her son Tj made alot of progress today. We got the new frame completely stripped. Tomorrow we plan to start about 2pm and get the pieces cut out of the truck frame to be used in capping the new waggy frame and maybe start welding them in. Then we get to start rerunning all the wiring through the frame to get ready for the body. I also would like to get the rear lift in place and get axles ready to go in but that is wishful thinking probably. I am getting ubolt eliminators for the front d44 made by Drake and once those are done I will do the front lift. I hope to get the lift done and shocks setup before the body goes on. Well anyway here are pics of what we started with and I will get pics of it stripped tomorrow.

Here is a pic of the only flaw in the new frame. This will be easily fixed since I have the same mount on the truck and on the old waggy frame.

We also got all the interior out of the waggy today. Now we can start interior work as well. We also got all the wiring in the front end marked and disconnected. Then we went up the creek at dads and enjoyed the view.

Well the new frame now has axles under it. It has the front axle from the j-10 donor and a waggy rear at this point. I have to finish my perches for the rear to mount the rear j-10 axle. I have the 2 3/4" hole drilled through the box tubing. Now I just have to drill the holes for the center pins and cut them apart. They will not be welded to the axle until I get driveline done and lift on so I can set pinion angle.

you might want to at least tack them on for safety's sake.

Thumpszilla
04-13-2007, 02:02 PM
well they will be once I get the lift done. Right now the springs are in the stock locations. It will not be driven anywhere until everything is done so it should be ok. My dads welder is about shot so I have to get it together so I can trailer it to my father in laws to weld everything up. it should be fine since it will not be moving under its own power.

Well worked on it a little bit today. All I got done was the rust on the new frame cleaned up and treated with rust converter From Walmart (brush on) And one coat of rustoleum applied to the entire frame. If I work on it next weekend I will be scuffing the rustoleum and applying the low gloss black from Tractor supply. Dads compressor is down so I guess I will be roling this on not my favored method but will look better than brushing it on. I still have to replace the one damaged body mount but plan to do that after the body is on. That way I know it is inline and hieght is correct. I would like to get motor in new frame next weekend but with dads surgery I just don't see it happening.

Good deal, Sam. And, the priorities are right - Dad first, Jeep second.
