I wanted to get this posted as its own trail ride, that way people can plan for it. It was getting lost in the Harlan Thread.
Grace will be visiting the IAJ group and ridding at the Land Between the Lakes/Turkey Bay. From Bills post its about a 7 hour drive.
Some details about the area from Freds post.
Here are a few links to TB.

This site is set up by a guy who Moderates on itsajeep.org there is a ton of info here
http://home.earthlink.net/~tsjay49/
I have not figured out how to post pictures here but I have HUNDREDS of pictures of Turkey Bay. My avitar pic is Yellow Belly Gully also.
I can post pictures and a description of each obstcle. Like Don already noted and Rod too. TB has plenty of hard stuff and plenty of easy stuff and plenty in between. There are ALOT of gullies and ALOT of steep hillclimbs and decents. We have layed more than one rig on it's side and even rolled a few. The Challenge is DEFINATLY there.

There should be plenty of trail guides available for this trip, I've rode trails with several of them and trust me - they can wheel! Turkey Bay doesn't have a big abundance of rocks yet, but they are building a rock garden as we speak. There are alot of natural obstacles as well as beautiful scenery. The long drive is because the park is in western KY.
Unfortunately because of the date selected, I probably won't be making this trip (anniversary). :(
As you all know I am from The IAJ side of the house originally. Trail guides will not be an issue we have enough guys who confidently know these trails to make 5,6, or even more groups. I would be a trail guide but the weekend that was decided on I have a Scouting commitment with my son. I know this is a long drive but I can assure you guys you won't be dissapointed. Like already said there are not alot of rocky obsticals but there is a man made rock garden (small but it's there) and the abundence of hills, gullies, washes, and lake side riding is all there.
Check out www.itsajeep.org in the picture gallery and click about ANYONE's pix and you will see Turkey Bay. You can look under mine (fred) or a guy (TSJAY) and they are clearly marked and TONS of pix. Any questions ask away and I will answer

It sounds like it's mostly muddy rutts from the trail reports I've read on the web. I wonder...do we have to have the ride there or would it be possible to go to Gray Rock, it's an awesome place with lots of rocks and plenty of muddy stuff to.
IH8MUD,
George
Thats just the "Local" spot for most of us BUT there are other places Mostly 2 or more hours south. There are some rocky places down there, Grey Rock, Tellico, and Wheeling in The Country, but most cost more than Turkey Bay. TB will cost you $15 for the weekend for the rig where Wheeling in The Country is $15 per persone per day!!!! Grey Rock is also pay by person but I am unsure of prices. There is a place in Chatanooga, Mt Ateana but we don't know anything about this place. Biggest Befifit to TB we have ALOT of trail guides.

most of us dont like the mud either, as i usually go around the mud/water holes, but alot of our hills are dirt/ mud and it make for some very good wheelin, as it really makes a driver more important than just holdin the wheel. i really think you guys will love it at TB.

Fred, hope you can make it to Harlan - it's priceless....as in free to ride
I wish I could make it but it's too much for me right now. The trip would still cost me wuite a bit PLUS wife will be away that weekend also

the itsajeep guys are doing a tellico ride 2 weeks before this date. Maybe we could go there with them if TB isn't everyones pick?

I know this would be a good bit closer than TB.
Bluegill
04-07-2007, 11:35 AM
I'm up for Tellico too, just hope it's a better date than July 14th..........
You won't get a full representation at Tellico for IAJ as you will in Turkey Bay or Somewhere in the TN/KY region. We only have about 3-4 guys that can afford to frequent tellico. A Tellico trip will run me $500 or more due to fuel axpenses and food. Lodging is taken care of there but heck thats still more than I can afford.

Fred, I'd be happy to ride TB, but July 14th doesn't work for me.
Fred, I'd be happy to ride TB, but July 14th doesn't work for me.
Me neither so therefot I will put out an open invite ANYTIME any of you guys want to ride in TB come on and I will show you around. I will also get others from IAJ to come out

What about Gray Rock, how far is that from you?
BillM
04-07-2007, 10:55 PM
The IAJ guys are going to Gray Rock sometime in the next few months if I am not mistaken.
Grey Rock is only about 2 - 3 hours from My area. You would get ALOT of the Nashville crew to come there as well as our Ga folks and southern TN folks
BillM
04-07-2007, 11:36 PM
Fred, how can you be 2-3 hours from Grey Rock? It is like 6 hours for us? ;)
 maybe it's more like 4-5 I think the Nashville guys said 3-4 which makes me 4-5...........
BillM
04-18-2007, 01:46 PM
Would this be any better to go to TB if we went say a week later? Seems like plenty of the IAJ folks would be able to do that better than the 13-14.
Gordon
04-18-2007, 02:31 PM
Wouldn't matter to me. I would love to go, but would need to trailer the XJ and am not set up for it - so I don't think I'm in unless I ride shotty.
BillM
04-18-2007, 06:40 PM
Gordon you could always ride shotty with someone.
Well guys the IAJ folks are wanting to tie in a weekend for this ride. We decided whatever works best for the MAJORITY here is what weekend we will use. Right now the original weekend is 13, 14, 15 July but we are considering a week later or even 2 weeks later
So either 13-15 July
20-22 July
or 27-29 July
If someone has a better suggestion on dates chime in and let us know just let us know ASAP which weekend will work best for who.
BillM
04-24-2007, 09:18 AM
Yeah folks...Lets get something in stone here. I know I was the one that started this whole thing on IAJ about changing the date but I had some people ask me about seeing if others could make it if we changed it.

I like the last weekend of the month, but majority rules. Thank You
Gordon
04-24-2007, 09:26 PM
Bill, I'm not completely sure I can make it, but how 'bout we call it for the weekend of the 20th-22nd? Seems like that's a bit better for for the IAJ guys/gals based on their forum and we need something firm to plan to, as well.
How 'bout you making final call, and post up on both forums?
BillM
04-24-2007, 09:50 PM
Sounds like a plan to me Gordon. So lets rename this post with the correct dates.

OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
This ride will be July 20-22. Date seems to work better for most. So lets get on board and show some support for those guys that came all the way here to ride with us.
Bill M - Camping. Following whoever is crazy enough to lead.
OK Guys we Solidified the 20-22 date on IAJ and we already have 19 jeeps commited, now as you all know some may back out at the last second, but this is gonna be another HUGE ride from the IAJ side of the house. I'd LOVE to see a good Grace turn out too.
BillM
04-25-2007, 08:42 AM
Same here. We need to have as many there as can make it. I know some will not want to drive that far for something not near as difficult as Harlan, but then again when have most of us rode that kinda thing at Harlan. Plus you can say you been somewhere else.
TB really is a fun place. Alot of steep hills, and gullies, and yes some mud..........although we avoid the mud as much as possible. I think your gonna have a good time if you come even if this isn't your kind of wheeling

The three things I like the least

I'm really gonna try to go. Just need to start my search for a trailer, I guess. Just too far to drive it, or I'll beg a shotty position.

I have a trailer that will be open for anyone to use. Let me know I will give you specs on it.

Lets not forget about this ride. Do we have anymore commitments for it?
yep lets not lose this ride. we have over 25 rigs with a wide range of skill levels and build levels so this will be a GREAT ride. We will have 4-5 groups at this rate of varying levels of difficulty

What is IAJ?
Where is Turkey Bay?
Some of you guys are talking about the long drive but for JR (Hano) and I it is more than 500 miles to get to Grey Rock. It will be an expensive travel to attend.
Jim
TB is Turkey Bay ORV In Land Between the Lakes, KY. It is pretty much Cadiz, KY. It costs $15 FOR A WEEKEND RIDE and has alot to Offer. Alot of hills and alot of natrual gullies. There is mud but we try to avoid it. There are a few natrual obstacles and a man made ever growing rock garden (its not much but its there)
IAJ is www.itsajeep.org it is another online group that jeeps together. We are not a club but rather a bunch of guys and gals that hang out online and wheel together. We had a big group go to Harlan with Grace last month. Look around in the trail rides section and you will find the original post and you can learn more anout IAJ and Turkey Bay ORV.
The Harlan trip was part 1 of a Grace/IAJ trail swap. the second part is you guys coming to our "Local" park. As said we already have over 25 rigs attending from the IAJ gang and the list is still building. Hope you choose to join us and hope we have a good turn out from Grace.

I am in the process of finding out for sure if I can go. I forgot that Dad just got a 2004 GMC Yukon Denali XL. So this allows me to tow the jeep. Which puts my mind at a lesser ease. I also got the trailer lined up as well. So now it all depends on the funds to go. My dad is looking on going as well.

Andy, Myself and the othrr Regular IAJ guys on Grace.
We have about 30 from Its a Jeep, about 5-7 from TN Virtual Jeep Club, 1-2 from Jeep Forum and whoever from here This is gonna be a HUGE ride

Wish I could make this one. Just came back from a 2 week shutdown vacation, my employer won't approve another one this quick. If only it was last weekend.
Sad that IAJ had such a great turnout for Harlan, and Grace can only muster 2 or 3 for the Turkey Bay ride.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I am back. Had the greatest time at Turkey Bay. Plenty of rocks, hill climbs, rocks with hill climbs, ditches, gullies, and man oh man the dust. No lie I have at least 2 inches of dust on the dash.
I showed up about 8pm there on Friday wheeled all day Saturday and a little Sunday and I arrived back in my driveway at 7:00pm. ItsAJeep really showed us a great time. My favorite trail has to be Silo Hill, really a great trail right along the lake shore. I will be back and very soon. I have a few pics will post up later. But a great trip. Thanks guys from IAJ and for those who missed out you missed a great time. But there is always next time.
BillM
07-23-2007, 08:35 AM
Yep. It was a great time. George, you would have had a fit with the Cruiser there. VERY tight trail riding. If I had had my doors on then the mirrors would be GONE. I didn't see one fullsize rig there. Jeeps, 2-3 dune buggies, then the rest were atv's and bikes. I enjoyed the whole thing though.

Hi everyone! The TB ride was fabulous! I'm just sorry that more of you couldn't come.
There will always be another chance though. Justin and his dad were in our group and I'm pretty
sure they had a ball! The weather was great and the fellowship was even better.
Thursday night it rained something fierce, so Bill, Andy, Laurie, Tom, and I hung out under the tarp.
We talked, laughed and watched the rain for a very long time. Just so everyone knows, there
ARE Yeti at Turkey Bay. :)
Bill's wife makes some wonderful lasagna and cherry o-pie. (Thanks Linda) We left the lasagna out
that night because there were no empty coolers and the raccoons had a feast! Of course, thay had to return every
night from then on to dig through the trash. We tied it up high too. Little things can get anywhere!!
Anyway, hopefully next time more of you can come.
Bill, there ARE full size vehicles that go to TB, just none that weekend. :)
Many places are a tight squeeze for them though.
