I can't tell from the pic, but does the shaft narrow down before the splines? If not you may want to gind on it a little before you put it in. Here's a link a pic explaining why.

mine were cut by a guy who supplies several werock teams. i think he's competent. and secondly, what kind of specail person grinds on an axle shaft. one you'd never be accurate and two the heat would cause all kinds of stress points.
